This collection showcases these "ignored", but still aesthetically interesting wood chips by transforming them into something into minimal objects which carry their natural essence.
A collection from nature: mateiral experimentation.
As Lavoisier once said: "In nature, nothing is created, nothing is lost, everything is transformed". Led by a material-driven approach, this project consisted on experimenting with molds and resin combined with ignored nature elements - wood chips - with the goal to transform them in a minimal rustic collection.
The first experiments worked as an aesthetical reference for further development - which means the results showed an interesting pattern on the first random shapes, sothe next step of working on form refinement could start.
Minimal geometric forms were adopted not only for optimizing the molding elaboration, but also to keep the design minimal, to avoid "polution" and naturally making the irregularly distributed wood chips as main elements.
The last step was sanding and polishing the pieces in order to obtain a transparent finish which highlights the wood chips inside the “showcase” made of resin. The previous choice of minimal geometry also made the finishing step simpler.
